Introduction

Welcome to the first release of Flux!

Here are some instructions on how to download and test our release. Please note this version is still unstable and is meant to be used for testing between the Flux internal team and close community members. We will have a much more stable version in July 2022.

1. Download Flux from our open source Github repository

• Download the latest release: https://github.com/fluxsocial/flux/releases/tag/v0.2.17
  • Mac: Flux-0.2.17.dmg
  • Linux: Flux-0.2.17.AppImage
• For Mac OS, you may need to visit the Security & Privacy section to allow downloads from unknown developers**

2. Create an account

• Flux has no centralized servers. Everything created at this step is stored locally in app. Any profile info added to your account on creation will be shared to communities you join.

3. Create your own community and invite others

• Don't use Flux for essential communication for now
• Communities are run peer to peer using Holochain. This means that if nobody is online, there is nobody to give you data. This could be a reason for not being able to receive messages / channels on a community where you would expect there to be some. We are currently working on a solution that will resolve this soon.
